LENTIL SOUP


INGREDIENTS
Small split dhal (Chiruparuppu) - 1 cup
Water - 5-6 cups
Onion - 1 medium (cut into 5-6 rough pieces)
Garlic - 3 cloves (cut each one into halves)
Carrot - 1 medium sized, peeled and chopped roughly
Pepper powder - 1.5 tsp
Salt - 1.5 tsp

Butter - 1 tsp
Olive oil - 1 tsp
Onion - 1/2 portion of a small one, sliced and fried until golden brown
Bread cubes - few fried (optional)




METHOD
1. Clean the dhal and add it along with all the ingredients and let it boil in a non-stick pan
2. Once boiled, cover and cook in reduced flame (2 in electric) for 25-30 mins
3. Mix occasionally and If needed, add more water
4. Once dhal and vegetables are cooked well, off the stove and let it cool down
5. Grind using a mixer or blend well with a hand mixer
6. Again heat the soup in the same pan
7. In a small pan, heat butter, fry the onions and add it into the soup along with olive oil.
8. While serving sprinkle bread cubes (optional).
